About the Role
A national Am Law firm seeks a mid-level Consumer Finance Litigation Associate to defend leading banks, mortgage servicers, fintechs, and non-bank lenders in high-stakes individual and class-action matters. You’ll collaborate with a deep bench of trial lawyers while managing cases in federal and state courts across Texas and the Fifth Circuit.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle all phases of consumer-finance disputes under FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, TILA, RESPA, ECOA, UDAAP, and related statutes
- Draft pleadings, dispositive motions, and briefs in federal and state courts; argue motions when appropriate
- Manage discovery, including written requests, ESI, depositions, and expert coordination
- Develop litigation strategies, settlement positions, and trial themes in partnership with senior counsel and clients
- Supervise paralegals and junior associates on discovery and factual investigation tasks
- Maintain clear, proactive communication with sophisticated in-house counsel and business stakeholders
Ideal Candidate Profile

2-5 years of litigation experience with a clear focus on consumer-finance statutes or financial-services disputes
- Proven federal-court practice: drafting motions to dismiss/summary judgment, removal/remand strategy, class-action briefs, or MDL work
- Working knowledge of CFPB rules, OCC/FDIC guidance, or state AG consumer-protection actions is a plus
- Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and oral-advocacy skills; Law Review or judicial clerkship welcome but not required
- Strong project-management instincts and the ability to handle multiple active dockets under tight deadlines
