Field Service Technician

We are seeking a motivated Field Service Technician to join a growing team specializing in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of overhead cranes and hoisting equipment. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude who enjoys working in the field, solving problems, and building relationships with customers.


Previous crane and hoist experience is not required. If you have experience troubleshooting electrical systems, working with industrial equipment, or performing field service work, comprehensive training will be provided.

This role includes regional travel throughout the Midwest with approximately 5 to 7 overnight trips per month. Company vehicle, tools, travel expenses, and overnight stipends are provided.


Responsibilities

  • Perform OSHA required inspections on overhead cranes and hoisting equipment
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical issues on customer equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance and safety inspections at customer facilities
  • Inspect electrical, structural, mechanical, and electronic components to identify equipment failures
  • Work with electrical controls including variable frequency drives (VFDs), contactors, transformers, and 230/460V systems
  • Clearly communicate repair findings and maintenance recommendations with customers
  • Complete service reports and inspection documentation using company-provided digital tools
  • Maintain company service vehicle inventory and ensure tools and parts are properly stocked
  • Participate in safety meetings and follow all company and OSHA safety procedures
  • Support the sales team by identifying service opportunities during customer visits
  • Work independently while representing the company professionally at customer locations


Qualifications

  • Experience troubleshooting industrial electrical systems or industrial equipment
  • Electrical controls experience preferred, including VFDs, magnetic contactors, transformers, and 230/460V systems
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Comfortable working at heights and around overhead equipment
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Midwest with approximately 5 to 7 overnight stays per month
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Ability to pass a DOT physical
  • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screenings
  • Ability to work overtime as needed based on customer demand
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Up to $32.00 per hour, depending on experience
