We are currently seeking an experienced HR Generalist for a contract opportunity supporting the human resources function at a busy operational facility.
This position will work closely with site leadership and employees to support HR programs, employee engagement, talent development, recruitment, performance management, and employee relations.
The successful candidate will be a hands-on HR professional who can build strong relationships, provide practical guidance to leaders, and help implement HR initiatives that support both employees and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day HR operations, including onboarding, offboarding, employee records, benefits administration, and employee relations.
- Partner with managers and employees to provide guidance and coaching throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Support initiatives related to employee engagement, talent development, retention, staffing, performance management, and organizational development.
- Partner with site leadership to ensure HR priorities align with operational and business objectives.
- Support recruitment activities and develop effective talent pipelines for production, skilled trades, technical, and supervisory positions.
- Provide guidance and support to leaders during organizational and workplace changes.
- Coach managers on effective communication, leadership practices, employee engagement, and team development.
- Support managers with annual HR processes, performance management, and other people-related programs.
- Assist with employee and labor relations matters, including meetings, investigations, grievance handling, and interpretation and administration of workplace agreements.
- Help ensure compliance with applicable employment legislation, company policies, and internal procedures.
- Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation.
- Identify opportunities to improve HR processes, employee experience, and organizational effectiveness.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 3+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably within a manufacturing, industrial, or other fast-paced operational environment.
- Experience supporting hourly and/or operational employees.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of HR practices including recruitment, employee relations, compensation, performance management, talent development, and organizational development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively with employees and leaders at all levels.
- Strong conflict resolution, problem-solving, and mediation skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
