Position Overview
A growing construction company in Prince Edward Island is seeking an experienced Site Superintendent / Site Supervisor to oversee day-to-day construction operations on a variety of projects across the Island. This role is responsible for coordinating trades, supervising site crews, maintaining schedules, and ensuring work is completed safely and to a high standard of quality.
The Site Superintendent will act as the on-site leader and will work closely with project managers, subcontractors, and field staff to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and according to plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily construction activities on job sites from project start through completion.
- Coordinate subcontractors, trades, and site crews to ensure work progresses according to schedule and project requirements.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and related documentation.
- Work closely with project managers to maintain timelines and address any issues that arise on site.
- Ensure work is completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and quality standards.
- Maintain a safe and organized job site while enforcing safety policies and procedures.
- Coordinate site logistics including deliveries, equipment, and workforce scheduling.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of work.
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members while identifying and resolving issues that could impact project timelines or quality.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in construction supervision, site leadership, or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Experience working on commercial, residential, agricultural, or industrial construction projects is considered an asset.
- Journeyman Carpenter certification or relevant construction trade background is considered an asset.
- Post-secondary education such as a Diploma or Degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering Technology, or a related field is also considered an asset.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience coordinating multiple trades and subcontractors on active job sites.
- Strong understanding of construction safety practices, regulations, and building codes.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites across Prince Edward Island.
