A well-established locay company is currently seeking a full-time Truck & Transport Technician/Mechanic (Red Seal) or Block 3 Apprentice to join their shop team in Charlottetown, PEI.


Reporting to the Shop Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing both major and minor repairs, as well as preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment. This role requires a strong commitment to quality workmanship, safety, and customer service, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Perform diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on heavy equipment and related systems
  • Work on mechanical, electrical, structural, and hydraulic systems
  • Respond to both scheduled maintenance and urgent repair requirements
  • Maintain accurate work records and follow established procedures and safety standards
  • Occasionally perform mobile/field repairs across Prince Edward Island and, when required, off-island travel for emergency or storm response
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and other departments


Requirements:


  • High school diploma (Grade 12 or equivalent)
  • Red Seal certification as a Heavy Equipment Technician/Truck and Transport Mechanic, or currently a Block 3 Apprentice working toward Red Seal certification
  • Strong experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems
  • Experience with heavy equipment, including hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in a regulated industry is an asset
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office, email, spreadsheets, and general systems navigation)
  • Valid driver’s licence; willingness to obtain additional licensing (e.g., air brake endorsement) if required
