Position Overview
Our client, a well-established manufacturer serving the automotive industry, is seeking an experienced Mould Maker. This role is responsible for building, assembling, modifying, and repairing large-scale moulds based on engineering designs. The successful candidate will interpret technical drawings and transform them into precision, three-dimensional mould components while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency standards are met.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, fit, and test moulds to internal and customer specifications
- Perform high-precision fitting and spotting of components and core-to-cavity work
- Wire and assemble hot runner systems
- Conduct mould try-outs, troubleshooting, and repairs
- Document customer discussions, trial results, and non-conformance issues accurately
- Collaborate with Engineering, Scheduling, Machining, and Leadership teams
- Support continuous improvement and quality initiatives
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment (5S standards)
- Travel within Ontario and internationally as required for customer support, training, or benchmarking
- Cross-train in other departments to support operational flexibility
- Provide training and mentorship to team members as needed
- Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental policies
- Promote a culture of safety and accountability
Qualifications
- High School Diploma (minimum requirement)
- Trade or Technical College Diploma considered an asset
- Tool & Die Maker Certificate (430A) is an asset
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a mould maker role
- Automotive industry experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of mould-making standards, processes, and tooling practices
- Strong attention to detail and precision workmanship
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to plan and prioritize workflow independently
- Effective communication skills for both internal teams and customers
- TIG welding experience is considered an asset
