About the Opportunity
Our client, a leading manufacturer in the automotive and industrial sector, is seeking a skilled Millwright to join their maintenance team. This role is essential in ensuring equipment reliability, supporting production efficiency, and maintaining a safe, well-functioning facility. The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, experience in CNC environments, and a commitment to quality workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete assigned work within target hours while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency.
- Perform equipment repairs with strong attention to safety, quality, cost, and timing.
- Conduct preventative maintenance (PM) on all plant equipment and machinery.
- Troubleshoot and service CNC machinery and general shop equipment.
- Maintain and repair plant systems, mechanical components, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Safely operate cranes, forklifts, and high-reach equipment.
- Review and interpret vendor schematics, drawings, and technical data to support repair processes.
- Manufacture, modify, or repair machine components using manual saws, lathes, milling, and drilling machines.
- Repair pumps, valves, bearings, seals, conveyors, and a variety of drive systems (ball screw, linear guide, belt, direct drive).
- Perform welding (oxy/acetylene, TIG, MIG) as required.
- Rig, move, and handle machinery of various sizes and weights.
- Manage spare parts, tooling, and equipment under your control.
- Train team members in maintenance theory, practical applications, and best practices with a focus on safety and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance).
- Utilize and guide others on the use of maintenance databases and work order systems.
- Communicate effectively with management, team leaders, machinists, and external service providers.
- Provide telephone support and participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Travel occasionally for training or technical benchmarking.
Education & Certifications
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
- Industrial Millwright 433A Certificate of Qualification, or
- Actively pursuing 433A with successful completion of Level 3 Apprenticeship Schooling (75%+).
- Technical diploma or degree considered an asset.
- Certification/licensing to operate high-reach equipment required.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently.
- Solid understanding of plant systems, equipment, hydraulics, pneumatics, and industrial electronics.
- Knowledge of lubricants, oils, greases, and proper application.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
