Position Summary
The Configuration/Change Enablement Specialist is responsible for maintaining the integrity and lifecycle management of all Configuration Items (CIs) across DHA infrastructure systems. This role supports Configuration and Change Management processes, ensures compliance with established frameworks, and facilitates effective Change Advisory Board (CAB) operations. The specialist sustains ITSM CMDB functionality and performance while enabling streamlined and accountable change deployment across production and pre-production environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Document and track approval, deployment, and configuration of all infrastructure CIs within the ITSM system to establish and manage accurate baselines.
- Maintain and operate the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) to automate change processes and support continuous process improvements.
- Establish a CMDB dashboard to visualize performance metrics, change statistics, and change schedule calendars.
- Provide stakeholders and government leads with accurate, real-time CI data using the ITSM CMDB.
- Ensure 100% of qualified changes are recorded in the CMDB; support artifact management for physical/functional design baselines.
- Deliver training to change coordinators/initiators on CMDB use and change procedures.
- Conduct configuration audits to identify undocumented changes and reduce service disruption risks.
- Implement change enablement status accounting strategies to inform stakeholders of key change activities.
- Assess change tickets to ensure clarity and detail for CAB voting members to evaluate risks and impacts.
- Facilitate Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs) and document lessons learned prior to closing change tickets.
- Maintain document artifacts (CIs) in centralized KM repositories post-change execution.
- Create and manage foundational Configuration Management documents, including:
- Enterprise CM Policy and Plan
- CM Plan Templates
- CAB Charters
- Change Enablement diagrams (e.g., frameworks, process flows, swimlanes)
- CAB agendas and meeting minutes
- Organize and facilitate CAB meetings, manage agendas, and document decisions.
- Recommend ITSM CMDB solution enhancements to support evolving change enablement needs.
Education & Certification Requirements (per DoD 8140 Qualification Matrices)
- Academic Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
- Other (at the discretion of the government customer)
