The Senior Aerospace Engineer holds responsibilities encompassing, but not limited to, applying a systems engineering methodology to the development of systems and products. This role involves establishing connections among a diverse team to ensure a synergistic outcome. Duties include translating user and customer needs into system-level requirements, guiding architecture and interface development, assessing design alternatives, managing technical risks, and overseeing verification and validation activities. Senior engineers are also expected to mentor junior team members, demonstrating strong critical thinking skills and a solid understanding of systems engineering processes. Periodically, the engineer will be tasked with reviewing/analyzing existing or proposed designs to identify weaknesses or critical elements.


Key Responsibilities and Skills:

  • Advocating for the application of systems engineering principles to specific systems or products
  • Utilizing model-based systems engineering frameworks and tools
  • Formulating concepts of operation
  • Crafting standard design process documents, including trade studies, requirements, specifications, test plans, and user procedures
  • Allocating system-level requirements to physical and functional architecture
  • Supporting System Requirements, Preliminary Design, Critical Design, and Test Readiness Reviews, as applicable to the project
  • Engaging in system modeling and simulations
  • Creating performance and subsystem interface specifications
  • Employing modeling and simulation for design trade-off evaluations
  • Designing comprehensive test programs, encompassing engineering evaluation, verification, and validation test plans
  • Backing environmental analysis and testing
  • Demonstrating strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Upholding confidentiality
  • Ability to perform moderate lifting, up to 45 pounds
  • Physical agility to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach


Required Qualifications:

  • Prospective candidates should possess the capability to obtain a security clearance (a requirement that necessitates US citizenship), in addition to other prerequisites. Further details on security clearance requirements can be found at: https://www.state.gov/security-clearances#faqs.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Ocean Engineering, or an equivalent technical field
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong MBSE (Model-Based Systems Engineering) background
  • Willingness to commute or relocate to Austin, TX 78758 (NW Austin); modest relocation bonus ($3,500) for candidates needing to relocate
