Operations Center Specialist – Building Management Systems Focus (Day Shift)

Schedule: Full-Time, 12-Hour Shifts (3 days on, 3 days off; 4 days on, 4 days off)
Salary Range: $65,000 – $75,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
Role Overview
We’re seeking an Operations Center Specialist to support infrastructure monitoring across multiple data centers in East Austin. This role focuses on Building Management Systems (BMS), using platforms like Ignition (our next-gen monitoring tool) and Metasys (a legacy system).
This is an alert-driven, watch-standard position ideal for someone with strong situational awareness, technical aptitude, and the ability to coordinate responses under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor dashboards and alerts related to environmental and power infrastructure (e.g., CRAH/CRAC units, UPS, generators, PDUs).
- Use Ignition Designer to configure thresholds and maintain optimal monitoring conditions.
- Interpret and act on data related to temperature, humidity, and power usage efficiency (PUE).
- Escalate incidents appropriately—ranging from minor anomalies to critical production outages.
- Draft situational reports and communicate with site staff, leadership, and emergency response personnel.
- Coordinate with security teams using Genetec and manage physical access control incidents.
- Support emergency event responses such as weather alerts, fire, or physical security concerns.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- 3+ years of Operations Center or facility infrastructure monitoring experience
- Familiar with BMS/EPMS tools (Ignition preferred; Metasys, DIVCON, or similar acceptable)
- Understands environmental monitoring and operational impact of cooling/power systems
- Comfortable interpreting real-time technical data and initiating proper responses
- Experience in NOC, data center operations, or facilities support roles preferred
Tools & Technical Skills
- Strong in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Exposure to or experience with:
- Ignition or other BMS platforms
- Genetec Security Software
- IP camera systems and access control tools
- IT infrastructure (Windows OS, networking, storage)
- Bonus: Familiarity with Jira, Slack, Zabbix, Confluence
Work Environment & Expectations
- Based in East Austin, covering operations across multiple data centers
- Operates within a centralized “hub and spoke” monitoring model—alerts are centralized for coordinated response
- Requires ability to work independently, follow SOPs, and adapt quickly during time-sensitive scenarios
- Occasional physical tasks (e.g., racking equipment up to 50 lbs., ladder usage) may be required
