Summary:
The IT Architect serves as a senior-level technical advisor responsible for the design, validation, and implementation of enterprise-level IT systems and architectures. This role leads the development of infrastructure strategies and system blueprints that align with mission goals, cybersecurity frameworks, and DHA governance processes. It requires technical expertise in engineering, architectural documentation, and requirements management throughout the systems lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design scalable and secure architectural and technical solutions that fulfill MHS/DHA infrastructure requirements.
- Develop architectural strategies and engineering documentation that guide implementation across enterprise environments.
- Ensure interoperability, sustainability, and alignment with the DHA Enterprise Architecture through rigorous documentation and design standards.
- Review and validate functional and technical requirements from Requirements Worksheets (RW) and Governance processes.
- Lead or contribute to iRAM and RAM sessions as part of the Customer Request Management (CRM) process.
- Coordinate the feasibility assessment of proposed solutions and assemble SMEs, IA personnel, and technical stakeholders to support requirement definition.
- Conduct technical assessments of new system designs to validate architectural compatibility and compliance with performance and security standards.
- Draft and maintain Test and Evaluation Strategies (TES) to confirm operational and technical performance metrics.
- Manage evolving technical requirements throughout the system lifecycle and support acquisition planning as needed.
- Develop and deliver Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) documentation and artifacts.
- Support re-engineering and re-architecture efforts for fielded products based on mission-specific needs or real-time constraints.
- Collaborate with MHS, DoD, and industry partners to align engineering efforts and resolve architecture and integration challenges.
Preferred Tools & Skills:
- DoDAF, RMF, and other DoD/ITIL architecture frameworks
- Microsoft Visio, Enterprise Architect, or comparable design tools
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., MED365, Azure) and hybrid infrastructure
- Strong technical writing and documentation experience
- Systems Engineering and Requirements Management experience
- Familiarity with Agile and DevSecOps practices
Education & Certification Requirements (per DoD 8140 Qualification Matrices)
1) Microsoft Certified: Cyber Security Architect Expert or Azure Solutions Architect Expert
2) Any of the following...
- Academic Education: Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
