WHAT'S THE JOB?

We’re partnering with a well-established professional services firm to find a Client Accountant to join their expanding Client Accounting team.

This role is ideal for an ambitious, technically strong accountant who enjoys managing client portfolios while supporting and mentoring junior team members. You’ll be responsible for delivering high-quality accounting services, ensuring compliance, and acting as a trusted point of reference for both clients and colleagues.

It’s a client-facing, hands-on role that combines technical accounting, leadership, and relationship management.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Manage your own portfolio of clients, preparing management accounts and supporting annual audits.
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns for your portfolio and review returns prepared by junior team members.
  • Ensure all client deliverables meet statutory requirements and deadlines.
  • Review financial statements, including complex disclosures.
  • Mentor and support junior team members, acting as a technical reference for high-level queries.
  • Organise regular catch-ups with your team to monitor progress and provide feedback.
  • Promote internal procedures, best practices, and quality standards across the team.
  • Identify training needs within the team and assist management in delivering relevant sessions.
  • Liaise with internal departments to gather documentation for financial statements and statutory filings.
  • Participate in client meetings for your own portfolio and support junior members in their client interactions.
  • Highlight significant accounting or compliance matters to management.
  • Support management with content for industry articles and client communications.
  • Ensure all statutory deadlines (VAT, accounts, tax returns) are met across your portfolio and the team.
  • Perform any other ancillary duties as required to support the department.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

  • Bring at least 2 years’ experience in a client accounting environment.
  • Hold a recognised accountancy qualification.
  • Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of client accounting, VAT, and related areas.
  • Communicate confidently and professionally in written and spoken English.
  • Use Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and SAGE confidently.
  • Work independently while also supporting and mentoring a team.
  • Stay highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to prioritise multiple tasks.
  • Handle sensitive financial information responsibly and ethically.
  • Be proactive, social, and comfortable in a dynamic, team-focused environment.
