WHAT'S THE JOB?


We're partnering with a leading technology business to find an IP Network Engineer to join its Technology Operations team.

This is a hands-on role for an experienced network professional who enjoys designing, building, and maintaining secure, high-performing network infrastructure. You'll play a key role in ensuring reliable connectivity across corporate offices, data centres, and virtual environments while supporting business-critical systems.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?


  • Design and implement scalable network architectures that support business growth and operational requirements.
  • Install, configure, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, wireless infrastructure, and other network technologies.
  • Manage IP addressing, VLANs, routing protocols, and network segmentation.
  • Perform proactive network health checks, upgrades, patching, and preventative maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues across LAN, WAN, wireless, and virtual environments.
  • Support internal teams and end users with network-related incidents and technical queries.
  • Manage firewalls, VPNs, and network security solutions, ensuring compliance with security policies and best practices.
  • Monitor network performance, capacity, and availability, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improved resilience.
  • Investigate outages, performance issues, and security incidents, driving timely resolution.
  • Maintain accurate network diagrams, technical documentation, and configuration records.
  • Contribute to infrastructure upgrades, expansion projects, and long-term network planning.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota, supporting critical business services outside standard working hours.


WHAT CAN YOU DO?


  • Hold a degree or diploma in Computer Networking, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Bring proven experience as a Network Engineer within an enterprise environment.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of IP networking, routing, switching, and network infrastructure.
  • Have hands-on experience configuring and supporting routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, and VPN technologies.
  • Be confident working with networking protocols including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, QoS, VLANs (802.1Q), 802.11 wireless standards, and IPSec.
  • Have experience with network security technologies; exposure to Checkpoint or Cisco ASA is an advantage.
  • Produce clear technical documentation, network diagrams, and infrastructure documentation.
  • Hold a Cisco CCNA certification (essential); CCNP is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrate excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay organised, work independently, and collaborate effectively within a wider technology team.
