WHAT'S THE JOB


We're partnering with a leading technology business to find a Data Engineer to join its growing Data Engineering team.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys building scalable data platforms that power business decisions. You'll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining the data infrastructure that supports analytics, reporting, and future AI initiatives.

Working alongside data analysts, engineers, and business stakeholders, you'll help transform complex data into reliable, high-quality solutions that enable smarter decision-making across the organisation.


WHAT WILL YOU DO


  • Design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data processing frameworks.
  • Develop and optimise data warehouse, data lakehouse, and data repository solutions.
  • Collaborate with analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Ensure data quality through validation, cleansing, monitoring, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Optimise existing ETL/ELT pipelines to improve performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Implement data governance, security, and privacy best practices across the data platform.
  • Work with modern data engineering tools to support analytics, reporting, and future AI capabilities.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines, ensuring reliable data availability across the business.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and recommend improvements to the organisation's data architecture.
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rota supporting business-critical data platforms when required.


WHAT CAN YOU DO


  • Hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Bring 2+ years' experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar technical role.
  • Demonstrate strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
  • Have hands-on experience building data warehouses, data lakes, or lakehouse architectures.
  • Be familiar with modern data technologies such as Airflow, dbt, PySpark, Dremio, Talend, Snowflake, Databricks, or AWS S3.
  • Understand data modelling, ETL/ELT processes, and modern data architecture principles.
  • Have experience working with relational databases such as Oracle, PostgreSQL, or MariaDB.
  • Be comfortable using development tools including GitLab, Docker, VS Code, Jira, and Confluence.
  • Have exposure to cloud technologies and containerisation platforms such as Kubernetes.
  • Demonstrate excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Be a proactive learner with a passion for data, automation, and emerging AI technologies.


BONUS:

  • Experience working with Linux environments and shell scripting.
  • Exposure to telecommunications systems or large enterprise data environments.
  • Experience supporting business intelligence platforms such as Power BI or SAP BusinessObjects.
