Motor Mechanic / Technician (AC/DC Motors & Pumps) — Shop-Based
Join Core Electric in Melvindale, MI, repairing and rebuilding industrial AC/DC motors and pumps for customers across metro Detroit and the Midwest.

Shop role (no regular field work)
Mon–Fri · 7:00am–3:30pm
$20–30/hr DOE + OT
What you’ll do
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble AC/DC electric motors and pumps (various sizes, ages, and OEMs).
- Diagnose mechanical/electrical issues (bearings, fits, seals, shafts, windings, insulation condition) and document findings.
- Operate common shop equipment: bearing heaters, parts cleaners, sand blasters, hydraulic presses, dial indicators.
- Use cranes/rigging and Hi-Lo safely for heavy components; follow shop safety procedures.
- Perform measurements and basic electrical tests (e.g., megohm/insulation resistance) and assist with final QA.
- Collaborate with winders/lead mechanics and keep work orders/tickets accurate and current.
What you bring
- Hands-on experience with motor or pump teardown/rebuild—AC/DC motor and/or pump background required.
- Comfort using hand/power tools and operating shop machinery (presses, torches, indicators, cranes/rigging).
- Reading prints/specs; precise measurements (micrometers, calipers); safe work habits.
- Backgrounds that translate well: industrial maintenance, machine repair, automotive mechanic.
- Nice-to-have: exposure to medium–high voltage equipment, shaft geometry/alignment, megger testing.
