Vale Group, a nationwide specialized recruitment firm, has partnered with a company based near Elizabeth, NJ, who is actively searching for an experienced Chief Credit Officer to work onsite for an opportunity paying up to $150K plus override, based on experience and credentials, . This executive leadership role is responsible for overseeing the bank’s overall credit function, including underwriting standards, credit policy, portfolio risk management, and asset quality oversight. The position requires a strong commercial banking credit leader who can balance sound risk discipline with growth objectives while partnering closely with executive leadership, lenders, and the board.


Requirements of the Chief Credit Officer:

● 12+ years of progressive commercial banking credit experience, including senior credit leadership exposure

● Strong background in commercial real estate and commercial & industrial lending

● Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field preferred

● Advanced banking, credit, or risk management training/certifications considered a plus

● Strong knowledge of credit policy, loan structuring, portfolio monitoring, and risk rating methodology

● Experience managing criticized assets, loan exceptions, and regulatory examination processes

● Strong executive presence with the ability to present to leadership and board-level stakeholders

● Experience with commercial lending systems, portfolio reporting, and credit administration platforms preferred


Responsibilities of the Chief Credit Officer:

● Oversee the bank’s credit administration function, including policy, underwriting standards, and approval governance

● Review complex credit requests and evaluate borrower strength, collateral support, guarantor quality, and repayment capacity

● Monitor portfolio performance, concentration levels, and asset quality trends across commercial lending segments

● Manage credit risk ratings, policy exceptions, renewals, and problem credit escalation processes

● Partner with lending teams and executive leadership to support prudent portfolio growth and disciplined credit decisioning

● Prepare reporting and recommendations for executive management, committees, and the board

● Support regulatory readiness, examination response, and internal credit control processes

● Support as needed
