Vale Group, a nationwide specialized recruitment firm, has partnered with a company based in Houston, TX, who is actively searching for an experienced Sr Commercial Project Accountant to work onsite for an opportunity paying up to $105K, based on experience. This role supports commercial property and development accounting by ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting for assigned projects and/or entities. The position partners closely with project leadership and accounting stakeholders to manage close cycles, reconciliations, billing, draw activity, and lender/investor reporting while maintaining strong GAAP compliance and internal controls.


Requirements of the Sr Commercial Project Accountant:

● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution

● 4+ years of professional accounting experience or 3+ years of public accounting experience

● Commercial real estate accounting experience strongly preferred

● CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA preferred

● Strong organizational skills with the ability to independently prioritize and meet deadlines

● Strong communication and collaboration skills across accounting and project teams

● Proficiency with accounting systems; Oracle and/or JD Edwards experience advantageous

● Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal control practices


Responsibilities of the Sr Commercial Project Accountant:

● Partner with project and accounting stakeholders to ensure accurate reporting and draw-related deliverables

● Prepare funding requests and support lender/investor reporting requirements

● Support treasury activities including wire setup for distributions, debt service, and ad hoc payments

● Execute month-end close activities including journal entries and complex account reconciliations

● Process recurring and non-recurring billings, record cash receipts, and support AR review as needed

● Prepare and record management and construction-related fees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

● Maintain fixed asset activity including setup and monthly depreciation/amortization

● Support audit requests, tax workpapers/projections, and ad hoc reporting/analysis

● Support as needed
