Location: Remote. Preffered locations are NYC, Philadelphia, Cincinatti, or Pittsburgh
Territory: Mid Atlantic - NJ, NY, PA, OH, WI, MI, MN
Compensation: 80-100k base (155-175k at plan)
Summary:
As a key member of the commercial team, the Regional Sales Manager for the Mid-Atlantic region (covering NJ, NY, PA, OH, WI, MI, and MN) will promote clinical and research genomic, transcriptomic, and proteomic services, acquiring new customers and developing them into long-term accounts.This role will collaborate cross-functionally with Sales Management, Project Management, Marketing, and Laboratory Operations to develop and execute a sales strategy that drives revenue growth and achieves quota targets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of next-generation sequencing (NGS), the proteomics market, and related lab technologies and applications.Success in this role requires the ability to develop and implement effective strategies and tactics to sell complex 'omics-based services in a highly competitive marketplace.
Responsibilities
- Drive sales of 'omics-based services to new customers within the designated territory through face-to-face visits and other communication methods.
- Effectively discover, qualify, and close sales opportunities with new and existing accounts.
- Utilize strong verbal and written communication skills to influence customers, nurture sales leads, and close deals.
- Leverage market research methods, analytical tools, and databases to identify and qualify potential customers.
- Collaborate with commercial partners (sales, marketing, project management) and internal stakeholders (sales operations, laboratory staff) to enhance the customer experience.
- Build and maintain relationships with key customer accounts, including academic, pharmaceutical, biotech, industrial, direct-to-consumer, government, CRO/CDMO, and hospital/clinical clients at a high level. Develop strong business relationships with decision-makers and industry influencers.
- Maintain and update all account and contact details within the CRM (HubSpot), including deal/opportunity management, daily meetings, and phone calls. Identify trends in omics applications and determine how to leverage them to drive sales growth.
- Negotiate sales opportunities within the assigned territory and generate associated sales contracts and quotations.
- Promptly follow up on market-generated leads by making direct contact with prospects and initiating screening within 48 hours. Convert leads into opportunities and prioritize high-quality prospects to meet sales targets.
- Maintain profit margins through effective sales negotiation and year-over-year price adjustments.
- Ensure customers are fully satisfied with service transactions and both pre- and post-sales experiences.
- Provide regular and accurate sales forecast updates, including billed and in-progress customer projects.
- Actively promote omics-based services across research and clinical applications.
- Serve as a liaison between the company and customers, gathering feedback to enhance service offerings and better meet customer needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences-related field (Biology, Chemistry, etc.).
- 3+ years of experience in sales and/or marketing of NGS services and/or molecular biology products, or experience working in or selling into a laboratory setting.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence both internal and external audiences.
- Knowledge of the life sciences markets, including genomics, transcriptomics, and proteomics. Familiarity with service processes is a plus.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Goal-oriented with a strong drive to achieve revenue targets and both company and personal strategic objectives.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned territory as needed to meet with clients. Occasional overnight travel may be required for customer visits, conferences, and business meetings.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience selling NGS sequencing services or related laboratory services.
- Work experience or knowledge of core laboratories and shared instrumentation settings.
- Strong understanding of laboratory-developed tests (LDTs).
- A Master’s or Ph.D. in a relevant science field is a plus.
