Position Title: Warehouse Manager - Food Operations

Location: Macon, GA 

Reports To: Plant Manager 

Employment Type: Full-Time 


Position Summary:

The Food Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a food distribution warehouse in Macon, GA. This role ensures efficient inventory management, safe handling of food products, compliance with regulatory standards, and effective leadership of warehouse staff. The manager will drive operational excellence, maintain high safety and quality standards, and ensure timely delivery of goods to meet customer demands.


Key Responsibilities:

-Warehouse Operations: Oversee receiving, storage, picking, packing, and shipping of food products, ensuring efficient workflows and adherence to schedules. 

- Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock audits, and implement systems to minimize waste, spoilage, and discrepancies. 

- Food Safety Compliance: Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, HACCP, and other relevant food safety regulations, maintaining proper storage conditions (e.g., temperature control for perishable goods). 

- Team Leadership: Manage, train, and motivate a team of warehouse associates, including scheduling, performance evaluations, and fostering a positive work environment. 

- Process Optimization: Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity. 

- Equipment & Facility Management: Oversee maintenance of warehouse equipment (e.g., forklifts, pallet jacks) and ensure a clean, organized, and safe facility. 

- Customer Coordination: Collaborate with transportation and sales teams to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment for clients. 

- Reporting & Analysis: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as order accuracy, inventory turnover, and labor productivity; provide regular reports to senior management. 

- Safety & Compliance: Enforce workplace safety protocols, conduct regular safety training, and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. 

- Budget Management: Monitor operational costs, including labor, equipment, and supplies, to meet budgetary goals. 


Qualifications:  

- Education: Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered. 

- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of warehouse management experience, with at least 3 years in food distribution or perishable goods. 

- Skills & Abilities: 

 - Strong knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., HACCP, FDA, USDA). 

 - Proven leadership and team management skills. 

 - Proficiency in warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar). 

 - Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. 

 - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities. 

 - Familiarity with lean warehousing practices is a plus. 

- Certifications: Forklift certification, food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe, HACCP or SQF), or OSHA training preferred. 

- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in temperature-controlled environments (e.g., coolers/freezers) and uncontrolled environments. 

Work Environment: 

- The role is based in a warehouse setting in Macon, GA, with exposure to varying temperatures (e.g., refrigerated and frozen storage areas) and hot outdoor areas. 

- Some evening, weekend, or on-call availability may be required to meet operational needs.
