Job Summary:

The Director of Battery Management Systems is responsible for leading the strategic and technical

aspects of the battery management system (BMS) across our product lines. This critical role will

involve driving innovation, ensuring the safety and performance of our battery systems, and

collaborating cross-functionally to deliver state-of-the-art solutions to our clients.

Responsibilities: 

• Spearhead the development of advanced battery management strategies and algorithms,

leveraging your deep expertise in battery technologies, state estimation, thermal management,

and fault diagnostics.

• Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, driving continuous improvement in

our BMS designs to enhance efficiency, reliability, and safety.

• Develop and execute a comprehensive BMS roadmap aligning with the company's long-term

objectives and customer requirements, including budget development and tracking.

• Collaborate closely with R&D, engineering, and product teams to integrate BMS solutions

seamlessly into our products, ensuring alignment with overall design and functionality.

• Manage and mentor a team of talented BMS engineers, fostering their professional growth and

maintaining a culture of innovation and excellence.

• Establish rigorous testing and validation protocols for BMS designs, ensuring compliance with

industry standards and regulations.

• Engage with customers and partners to understand their specific BMS needs and challenges,

translating these insights into effective BMS solutions.

• Oversee the timely execution of BMS projects, from concept to commercialization, ensuring

milestones are met and projects are delivered within budget.

• Identify potential risks and challenges related to BMS development and implementation,

devising mitigation strategies to ensure project success.

• Adhere to federal and state regulations.

• Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.

• Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. 

• Predictable and reliable attendance.

Position Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a

focus on battery technologies.

• PhD degree in a related field with a focus on battery technologies preferred. 

• Minimum of seven (7) years in a leadership role within the battery management or energy

storage industry.

• Strong background in battery systems, including battery chemistry, state of charge estimation,

thermal management, and safety mechanisms.

• Proficiency in battery management algorithms and software development.

In-depth knowledge of relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.

• Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, capable of engaging effectively with both

technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Demonstrated success in driving innovation and translating technical concepts into practical

applications.

• Project management expertise, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables.

• Experience with embedded systems and software development for real-time applications is a

plus.

• Prior exposure to high voltage and automotive battery systems is desirable.

• Adaptability to a fast-paced, evolving environment.
