Job Summary:
The Director, Sales – Europe reports currently to the Vice President, Sales – Europe. The Director of Sales is responsible for developing and managing a sales pipeline including project developers and independent power producer accounts focused on large scale energy deployment. The Vice President of Sales directs and supports the Director of Sales working with established and new accounts using CRM and other data sources for effective and efficient revenue generation. The Director of Sales is supported by the Sales Application Engineering team in developing project details and proposals.
Responsibilities:
• Originate new business opportunities for Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) in but not limited to the Eastern European Region, including hardware, software, and service agreements.
• Accurately forecast and deliver sales ranging in magnitude from €5 - €200M+ each with profitability and risk profiles according to company directives.
• Own customer relationship and opportunity business cases (Capex & Opex).
• Develop, manage, and grow long term relationships with key customer accounts throughout energy storage project lifecycle.
• Create and execute strategy and account planning for assigned customers.
• Prepare and submit customer proposals for energy storage solutions.
• Lead contract lifecycle from origination through negotiation, closing, and completion.
• Enter timely and relevant data on leads, opportunities and accounts in Salesforce CRM (funnel management).
• Identify and attend appropriate trade shows to expand network and build brand awareness for products/services
• Adhere to European and state regulations.
• Adhere to federal and state regulations.
• Adhere to all company policies, processes, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

Position Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, economics, engineering, or related field with a strong analytical emphasis, or equivalent degree
• Master’s degree in business or technical field is preferred.
• Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in energy storage sales or business development role, in renewable energy, independent power producers (IPP), equipment supplier, utility, or other power market environment.
• Minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in a professional business environment.
• Understanding of the utility industry, independent power producers (IPPs), and European Independent System Operator (ISO), Regional Transmission Organization (RTO), energy storage applications and revenue drivers.
• Comprehensive understanding of the energy/power sector, including energy storage financing, construction, operations, maintenance, and economic drivers.
• Solid understanding of relevant local legislation, regulatory landscape, and the requirements of doing business throughout the European energy storage industry.
• Demonstrated success influencing senior-level stakeholders in utility, IPP, or large commercial energy environments.
• High attention to detail, with demonstrated ability to drive complex opportunities to profitable closure. Ability to multitask, with a well-organized ability to manage teams committed to high standards.
• Strong technical aptitude, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and SalesForce.com, and the ability to learn new tools to support objectives.
• Experience with a top-tier management consulting or investment banking firm, governmental energy regulator, or Independent System Operator/Regional Transmission Organization (ISO/RTO) is preferred.
• Thrives in a collaborative team environment but can work independently.
• Fluency in English, with superior oral and written communication skills.
• Authorized to work in Europe without Company sponsorship.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25-50%.
