Mission for the Role
Support the Preconstruction team by accurately assisting in estimating, takeoffs, and bid preparation, ensuring timely and precise inputs that strengthen project pricing and proposal accuracy. Develop early exposure to strategic estimating practices—learning how bid choices, subcontractor relationships, and pricing strategy affect company growth and market positioning.
Outcomes
- Complete project site reviews and pre-bid site visits with accurate notes and deliverables for at least 90% of assigned projects.
- Conduct thorough project documents reviews and building component takeoffs with 95%+ accuracy rate compared to senior estimator checks.
- Assist in developing initial project files and cost databases within 48 hours of assignment.
- Contribute to timely and competitive bid submissions, supporting the Preconstruction team in meeting all client and internal deadlines.
- Begin to identify cost-saving opportunities, vendor leverage points, and market trends that inform long-term estimating strategies.

Required Experience & Skills

Education: High school diploma required; relevant college coursework or degree preferred.

Industry Experience: 1–3 years in estimating, 3–5 years overall in construction.
- Technical Skills:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel essential).
- Knowledge of cost control methods and pricing strategies.
- Excellent negotiation skills for supplier/contractor relations.
Preferred Experience
- Four-year college degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
- Experience using Bluebeam and Buildr.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices.
- Exposure to strategic pricing, subcontractor selection, and bid/no-bid decision framework
