Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Truss and Wall Panel Plant General Manager to oversee all operations at our manufacturing facility in the Midwest. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the plant's production, ensuring quality control, maintaining safety standards, and driving operational efficiency. Experience with wall panels and multifamily projects is essential. This role requires a strong leader with a deep understanding of manufacturing processes, team management, and continuous improvement methodologies.
Primary Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production supervisors, engineers, and plant staff.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the plant.
- Set clear performance expectations and provide regular feedback and development opportunities.
Operational Excellence:
- Oversee all aspects of plant operations, including production planning, scheduling, and execution.
- Ensure production meets or exceeds quality standards and customer requirements.
- Implement and maintain lean manufacturing practices to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
- Develop and manage the plant budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
Safety and Compliance:
- Promote a safe working environment by ensuring all safety regulations and policies are followed.
- Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including environmental standards.
Quality Control:
- Implement and maintain robust quality control processes to ensure products meet stringent standards.
- Work closely with the engineering team to address any design or production issues.
- Drive initiatives for continuous quality improvement.
Customer Focus:
- Maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to meet customer needs.
- Handle customer complaints and feedback effectively to improve service and satisfaction.
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute strategic plans to drive growth and operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions.
- Stay abreast of industry trends and innovations to keep the plant competitive.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in manufacturing management, preferably in the building materials or truss manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience with wall panels and multifamily projects.
- Proven track record of successful leadership and team development.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations.
- Proficiency in manufacturing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
