TLDR
Help build the software that keeps demanding workloads running reliably. This Staff individual contributor role combines daily programming with responsibility for how distributed infrastructure behaves in production. You will work with other engineers to find constraints, choose practical improvements, and carry changes through implementation and operation. The appeal is direct ownership: your decisions and code will affect the capacity, performance and resilience of the systems people depend on.
What You Will Do
- Write infrastructure software that coordinates workloads and manages compute resources.
- Investigate difficult production problems, measure the limiting factors, and improve system behavior under load.
- Automate operational work and make complex systems easier to maintain and recover.
- Plan and deliver upgrades with clear safeguards for the workloads already running.
- Lead projects alongside other engineers, explain tradeoffs, and stay involved after launch.
- Participate in on-call and use incidents to improve both the system and the response process.
What You Bring
- 7+ years building and operating platform or compute infrastructure, with substantial coding in your current work.
- Deep experience with workload orchestration, scheduling or resource management, backed by software you personally built or extended.
- Recent responsibility for complex infrastructure at scale, and prior experience working within a mid to large size engineering org.
- Expert level knowledge for debugging distributed systems and making consequential changes safely.
- Examples of leading through collaboration, communicating decisions clearly and adapting when priorities change.
Where Depth Stands Out
Your strongest work may be in container orchestration, virtualized execution, or the systems that coordinate compute resources.
Broad infrastructure experience can also be relevant when it includes a clear area of technical depth and sustained production ownership.
