We are searching for a Project Director for one of Arizona's top ranked construction enterprises in their Building Services division. Projects will be within Mission Critical, Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Retail, Industrial, Tilt and more. Summary
The Project Director has direct responsibility for project oversight and performance including the project team. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Building and is expected to ensure success of projects in terms of Client satisfaction, project management, financial performance, safety performance, quality, and employee engagement and development.
Responsibilities
- Works with the Preconstruction and Business Development teams to secure work and plan for growth.
- Works with Preconstruction during the preconstruction phase to develop project specific schedule, general condition and requirement estimates and site logistics plans. Additional provides input on the desired means and methods and constructability reviews.
- Oversees the transition from Preconstruction to Operations to ensure the project team executes based on the plan developed in Preconstruction.
- Strong sense of urgency for internal business dealing as well as external / customer focused.
- Performs detailed monthly project reviews with project managers to ensure accurate financial forecasting and planning along with project schedule status, critical path activities and key milestones.
- Supports business development activities by maintaining long lasting relationships with clients, the design community, engineers, and other organizations which enhance future business development opportunities. Successfully leads operational improvement initiatives related to the companies strategic plan.
- Creates positive development opportunities, mentoring staff and assisting direct reports in the advancement of their careers.
- Builds diverse, high performing teams, through coaching, training and development opportunities and creating opportunities for new and challenging experiences.
- Provides general Project Management oversight in all phases of construction.
- Provides overall accountability for successful delivery of multiple projects .
- Provides oversight, leadership and is accountable for the development and maintenance of the master project schedule throughout the duration of the project.
- Attends project staff meeting and OAC meetings on a regular basis.
- Accountable for safety, quality, and compliance programs for assigned project(s).
- Conducts individual project reviews for the project portfolio and is accountable for the financial management, schedule, execution, and safety of the projects.
- Collaborates with Environmental Health and Safety staff and management to ensure the safe execution of the project sites.
- Works closely w/ the General Superintendent to coordinate resources and ensure the projects have the appropriate level of technical oversight and guidance to ensure company goals are reached.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management (or equivalent work experience)
- 10+ years of managing progressively larger/complex projects and teams
- Thorough knowledge of corporate objectives impacting Preconstruction, strategies and techniques, and construction contracts required.
- Experience and/or understanding of business development best practices
- Excellent skills and experience in developing, reading and managing project schedules and excellent computer and software skills
- High energy level and the ability to inspire and motivate a team
- Understands and abides by all government processes and regulations
