Founding Designer

Full-time | Hybrid | San Francisco, CA

About the Role

We’re looking for a Founding Designer with 2–6 years of experience in consumer-facing product design, combining deep user empathy with exceptional UI/UX craft.

You’ll take full ownership of the user experience — from shaping high-level product direction to creating polished, production-ready designs.

This is a rare opportunity to define the design culture and visual language of a fast-moving AI-driven product.

You’ll work directly with founders and engineers to create delightful, human-centered experiences that balance beauty, clarity, and emotion.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the End-to-End Design Process: Drive product design from high-level strategy to detailed execution, including wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups.

  • Understand Users Deeply: Engage directly with users through interviews, testing, and feedback loops to inform design decisions.

  • Prototype Rapidly: Iterate on new features and interactions quickly, validating concepts through real user insights.

  • Collaborate Closely: Work hand-in-hand with engineers to ensure designs are implemented with precision, balancing vision with technical feasibility.

  • Systematize Design: Build and maintain a scalable design system that ensures consistency, accessibility, and brand coherence.

  • Support Growth: Contribute to onboarding, retention, and engagement initiatives through thoughtful UX experiments and data-informed design choices.

Who You Are

  • 2–6 years of experience in consumer product design, with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual and interaction design.

  • Strong grasp of UI/UX principles, user psychology, and design systems.

  • Skilled in prototyping tools (Figma, Framer, or equivalent).

  • Bonus: experience with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React).

  • Deep curiosity about how people connect, communicate, and form relationships through digital products.

  • Obsessive attention to detail and a relentless focus on creating intuitive, emotionally resonant interfaces.

Work Environment

  • Location: San Francisco, CA

  • Schedule: Hybrid (approx. 2 days per week in-office; relocation assistance available)

  • Culture: Collaborative, fast-moving team working at the intersection of creativity, AI, and human connection.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $140K–$210K

  • Equity: 0.55%–1%

  • Visa Sponsorship: O-1 or H-1B transfers available

  • Benefits: Competitive health coverage, flexible time off, and opportunities for creative ownership at an early stage.
