Vice President of Finance – Transformational Healthcare Startup
About the Job
We are seeking a Vice President of Finance to join a high-growth healthcare organization redefining pulmonary medicine across the United States.
This is a full-time, fully remote position (with optional in-person collaboration in New York or San Francisco).
You will own all financial strategy and execution, from detailed analysis and revenue optimization to M&A readiness and multi-site expansion modeling.
This is a rare opportunity to join a rapidly scaling, technology-enabled healthcare company — with a direct path to the Chief Financial Officer role for the right candidate.
What’s in it for you?
- $150,000 – $250,000 annual salary
- Competitive equity package
-
100% remote role with the option to meet in-person if based in NY or SF
-
Executive-level visibility and influence across all strategic initiatives
-
Fast-growing, well-funded company with $15M+ raised and multi-state expansion
-
Broad scope of ownership — from financial modeling and forecasting to investor relations and strategic growth
- Direct collaboration with the CEO and physician leadership
- Opportunity to shape the financial infrastructure and strategy of a modern healthcare company from the ground up
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Oversee all core financial functions, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and compliance.
- Perform detailed financial analysis by provider pod, clinic location, and service line, leveraging data from EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks and Athenahealth.
- Develop and maintain multi-scenario financial forecasts, budgets, and cash flow projections to guide expansion decisions.
- Build precise revenue cycle and billing models to optimize profitability and clinical performance.
- Prepare financial presentations and dashboards for clinical leadership and physicians, translating complex data into actionable insights.
- Lead the creation of pitch decks, valuation analyses, and M&A due diligence materials for banks, investors, and lenders.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and risk management across all financial operations.
- Partner with the CEO to develop scalable financial infrastructure to support rapid multi-state growth.
- Collaborate closely with clinical and operational teams to align financial strategy with patient care outcomes.
What You’ll Need:
-
3+ years of experience in one of the following:
Healthcare M&A or investment banking at a top-tier firm
Mid-market or lower mid-market private equity (healthcare roll-up or services background)
-
Finance leadership at a high-growth healthcare startup
- Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (top-tier university preferred).
- Strong understanding of revenue cycle management, EHR systems, billing reports, and healthcare operations.
- Advanced technical skills in financial modeling, including accruals, 3-statement models, and valuation analysis.
- Proven ability to analyze complex financial data and present findings clearly to executive and clinical audiences.
- Ambitious, proactive, and detail-oriented — with a strong desire to grow into a CFO position.
What Will Set You Apart:
- Prior experience in healthcare roll-up models or multi-site medical operations.
- Experience preparing materials for M&A transactions or capital raises.
- Background in private equity or healthcare finance consulting.
- Comfort diving deep into billing and claims-level data to verify and optimize performance.
- Exceptional communication skills and a strategic, analytical mindset.
