Litigation Associate – Complex Litigation / Environmental Litigation


Full-time | On-site | San Francisco, CA


$260K – $365K (based on experience level)

About the Role


We’re seeking a 3rd to 5th year Litigation Associate with strong complex litigation experience, exceptional research and writing skills, and a proven academic record from a top law school.


This position offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated matters in a high-performing, collaborative environment alongside nationally recognized partners and attorneys.


Candidates should thrive in an on-site, team-driven setting and have a demonstrated ability to handle complex legal work with precision and professionalism.


What You’ll Do


  • Handle high-stakes matters across complex litigation, regulatory enforcement, and environmental law.


  • Lead in-depth legal research, drafting, and preparation for court filings, hearings, and trials.


  • Collaborate directly with senior attorneys and partners on diverse, cross-office cases.


  • Develop courtroom and motion practice skills through hands-on litigation experience.


  • Support multi-jurisdictional and interdisciplinary matters involving environmental and regulatory components.


Qualifications


  • JD from a top-tier law school with excellent academic credentials.


  • 3–5 years of litigation experience at a leading law firm.


  • Strong writing, research, and analytical skills.


  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.


  • Federal judicial clerkship or experience with environmental litigation is a plus.


Compensation


This firm follows a lockstep compensation structure consistent with peer AmLaw firms:


  • 3rd Year Associate: $260,000


  • 4th Year Associate: $310,000


  • 5th Year Associate: $365,000


Associates are eligible for annual bonuses upon meeting a minimum of 2,000 billable hours, with up to 100 hours of pro bono work counting toward this total.


Equity: Not applicable for this associate role.


Work Environment


  • Location: San Francisco, CA


  • Work Policy: On-site, 3–5 days per week (no remote option)
