Position Description:

We’re seeking a Satellite Systems Administrator III to work in Colorado Springs, CO in support of a program directly assisting the US Space Force. The ideal candidate will have experience with Linux/UNIX system administration, virtualization, network infrastructure, and satellite operations and communications. The selected candidate will provide configuration, maintenance, monitoring, troubleshooting, and security support for cross-domain systems supporting space and defense operations. This role will provide critical expertise in satellite operations, including telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) systems, satellite data collection, command uplink processes, and space-to-ground communications. The selected candidate will interface with Active Duty, US Government, and contractor personnel, as well as coordinate resources with the 22nd Space Operations Squadron, to ensure the reliability, security, and integrity of mission-critical systems and satellite operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Implement security measures outlined in security plans, including network scanning, software patching, and DISA STIG compliance controls.
• Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain Linux servers in a VMware environment with a focus on system reliability and performance.
• Monitor system health, security, and performance while maintaining system logs for Linux and Windows environments.
• Troubleshoot hardware, software, system configuration, and user access issues and perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve problems.
• Serve as a subject matter expert for Space Vehicle telemetry operations, ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data received at Remote Tracking Stations (RTS).
• Oversee satellite data collection and command uplink processes and coordinate resources with the 22nd Space Operations Squadron.
• Utilize automation tools to improve efficiency in software provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment.
• Create, maintain, and update comprehensive software, system, and process documentation.
• Support remote system management and day-to-day system operations in a 24/7 operational environment.
• Lead and support projects through planning, execution, and completion while working effectively with cross-functional teams and mission partners.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Experience:

• Minimum 6 months of direct experience in satellite operations and communications.
• Proven experience with Linux/UNIX system administration and substantial knowledge of Microsoft Server network protocols.
• Experience with network infrastructure, including network topologies, data flows, firewalls, routers, and switches.
• Experience with system monitoring, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and system security.
• Ability and willingness to work various shifts in support of 24/7 satellite operations.
• Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex and unprecedented technical issues.

Desired Skills and Experience:

• Experience with VMware virtualization and remote system management.
• Experience supporting telemetry, tracking, and command (TT&C) systems.
• Experience with DISA STIG compliance, network scanning, and security remediation.
• Experience with automation, software provisioning, configuration management, and application deployment.
• Experience leading and completing technical projects.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with customers and address complex service requirements.
• TS/SCI with SAP caveat is highly preferred.

Required Education/Certification:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field and five (5) or more years of relevant experience. Will accept four (4) additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.
• DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification.

Security Qualifications:

• Active Top Secret or DoE Q clearance with SCI eligibility (must be eligible for SCI indoctrination within first 3 months of start date) and be able to obtain and maintain TS/SCI.
• Must be a US Citizen.
