HiFyve is hiring an Operating Engineer in the Manufacturing / Food Processing industry in Kansas City, MO!

Salary: $32.25/hr

Shift: 1st Shift 7:00 am – 3:00 pm (Overtime may be required)

Location: Kansas City, MO

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair manufacturing and processing equipment
  • Perform routine and emergency maintenance tasks to minimize downtime
  • Oversee, monitor, and maintain ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, compressors, and related utility equipment
  • Repair and maintain mechanical, electrical, air, hydraulic, refrigeration, and boiler systems
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions through inspection, testing, and troubleshooting
  • Dismantle machinery and replace worn or defective components
  • Perform arc and heli-arc welding, brazing, and soldering as required
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and service manuals
  • Measure, cut, thread, and install air and hydraulic piping
  • Modify and troubleshoot computer-controlled and automated equipment
  • Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper operation
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve technical issues
  • Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean, safe work environment

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Technical training or equivalent industrial maintenance experience (preferred)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in industrial manufacturing environments
  • Welding experience required (arc and heli-arc)
  • Extensive electrical experience with 3-phase wiring, electrical controls, and PLC troubleshooting
  • Hands-on experience overseeing and operating ammonia refrigeration systems, boilers, compressors, and utility equipment
  • Experience working with boilers, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, welders, and precision measuring instruments
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and physically demanding environments
  • Willingness to work assigned shifts and overtime as needed
