Salary: $34-51/hr, based on experience and level (Designer I–II)
Shift: 1st shift M-Th 6a-3p, Fri 6a-noon

Position Levels:

Tool & Die Designer I – Focus on individual design projects, developing tooling and die concepts, building prototypes, and coordinating with manufacturing.

Tool & Die Designer II – Includes all Designer I responsibilities, plus mentoring junior engineers, handling more complex tooling projects, and contributing to process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop tool and die concepts based on manufacturing needs, customer specifications, and production requirements.
- Create detailed designs, 3D models, blueprints, and flat blank geometry using SolidWorks/LogoPress and Cadkey.
- Design punch press tooling, weld fixtures, assembly fixtures, and inspection fixtures.
- Build and test prototypes to ensure tools meet functional, design, and customer specifications.
- Select materials (steel, plastics, composites, springs, punches, bolts, dowels) for durability, cost, and performance.
- Oversee tool and die fabrication with precision and quality control.
- Coordinate with manufacturing teams (EDM, CNC Mill, Press Brake, Toolmakers, Quality) to support production.
- Review customer drawings, CAD files, and RFQs to ensure designs meet requirements and budgets.
- Modify designs based on testing, feedback, or engineering clarifications.

Designer II only: Mentor junior engineers and team members to foster skill development.
- Manage project timelines, resources, and budgets to meet deadlines.
- Maintain documentation of design processes, test results, and compliance records.
- Follow all safety procedures and compliance guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in SolidWorks/LogoPress; Cadkey knowledge is a plus.
- Expertise in materials selection and manufacturing techniques (machining, stamping, laser cutting, injection molding).
- Skilled in prototyping, testing, and reading blueprints with GD&T.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and creative design skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to conduct quality inspections.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for team collaboration.
- Effective time management to meet production deadlines.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred, or High School Diploma/technical degree with equivalent experience.
- 5–7 years of experience in tool and die designing, with a strong background in manufacturing processes.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to see, hear, and perform tasks requiring close, distance, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Frequent standing, walking, and hand use; ability to reach with hands and arms.
- Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks over long shifts.
- Ability to regularly lift/move up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift/move up to 50 lbs.
Note: Multiple positions available at different levels (Designer I and Designer II). Candidates will be considered for level based on experience, skills, and demonstrated leadership ability.
