Position Overview

Linder Industrial Machinery is seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead the service department at their Chester, VA location. This role is responsible for overseeing all service department operations, managing technician teams, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving department performance. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of heavy equipment service operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, schedule, and develop the service department team including field and shop technicians
• Manage service workflow, work order dispatching, and technician productivity
• Ensure all repairs are completed safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, resolving service issues promptly
• Monitor department KPIs including labor efficiency, customer satisfaction, and revenue goals
• Collaborate with parts, sales, and rental departments to support overall branch operations
• Oversee warranty claim submissions and ensure compliance with manufacturer guidelines
• Conduct employee performance evaluations and support technician career development
• Enforce all safety policies and maintain a safe working environment
• Manage department budget and control costs

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical degree or equivalent preferred
• 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment service, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role
• Strong knowledge of heavy equipment mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage workloads, and drive results
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Proficiency with dealer management systems and service software
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
