Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Shop Technician to diagnose, repair, and maintain heavy construction and earthmoving equipment within our dealership shop. This shop-based role is ideal for a technician with strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical skills who takes pride in high-quality workmanship. You will work on customer-owned equipment ensuring all repairs are completed safely, accurately, and on time.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment and component systems in a shop environment
• Develop repair plans including sequence of work, required tooling, and parts
• Perform mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical repairs on equipment
• Conduct quality assurance testing following all repairs to ensure proper operation
• Complete work orders, service reports, and parts orders accurately and on time
• Retrieve and return parts and materials using internal parts ordering systems
• Operate shop equipment including overhead cranes, lifts, and diagnostic tools
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized shop work area
• Communicate repair status and updates to service management
• Follow all company safety policies and procedures
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by management

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required
• Associate degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology OR four years of apprenticeship experience
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical troubleshooting skills
• Experience repairing heavy construction or agricultural equipment preferred
• Ability to work in a fast-paced shop environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Technician level classification based on experience and competency

Physical & Work Environment

• Frequent exposure to mechanical equipment, noise, and varying shop conditions
• Occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and extreme temperatures
• Must be able to perform physical tasks such as climbing, bending, kneeling, and lifting heavy components
