Salary: $85,000–$100,000/year

Shift: Days 7am-4pm Mon-Fri (it's a 24/7 operation so if problems arise, you will be expected to help outside of your normal hours)

Location: Detroit, MI

Position Overview

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations at a chemical manufacturing and distribution facility. This role ensures safe, efficient production while maintaining compliance with quality, environmental, and safety standards. Works cross-functionally with maintenance, logistics, and administrative teams to support overall plant performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily production operations to meet safety, quality, and output goals
  • Maintain and track railcar inventory (Chlorine, Ferrous, Ferric, HCL, and empties)
  • Generate and manage shipping documentation using RSI
  • Monitor Chlorine inventory and communicate daily updates to key departments
  • Coordinate maintenance scheduling for downtime and repairs
  • Enter and track production, packaging, and lab results in company systems
  • Support allocation, billing, and COA documentation for shipments
  • Order and manage materials such as iron, HCL, drums, totes, and repacking supplies
  • Create and receive purchase orders, reconcile invoices, and resolve vendor issues
  • Lead monthly safety meetings and weekly safety audits
  • Supervise production and lab staff; oversee training, performance, and safety compliance
  • Track and report key KPIs for production, quality, and safety performance
  • Assist with document control and administrative processes as needed

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in chemical or industrial manufacturing
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access) and ERP systems (Adage preferred)
  • Experience managing safety programs and regulatory compliance
  • Background in logistics, purchasing, or inventory management
  • Effective communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills

Training & Development

  • On-the-job training in Adage systems, order processing, and procurement
  • Safety and Responsible Care Guiding Principles
  • Training on railcar inspection, chemical analysis, and process operations
