Title: Sr. Estimator, Civil Construction

Location: Houston

Compensation: $135k to $165k + Bonus


Job Duties and Responsibilities

● Lead end-to-end estimating activities for heavy civil and infrastructure projects, including site development, utilities, concrete, and large-scale earthwork.

● Drive the bid process from initial review through final submission, coordinating pricing strategy, timelines, and internal reviews.

● Partner with estimating staff, support personnel, and leadership to deliver competitive and complete proposals.

● Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to define scope, quantities, risks, and pricing assumptions.

● Build detailed cost models using labor productivity, equipment utilization, material pricing, and subcontractor input.

● Develop both preliminary budgets and fully detailed estimates to support pursuit decisions and final bid submissions.

● Lead scope alignment meetings with owners and construction managers to confirm assumptions and clarify responsibilities.

● Present estimate narratives, value-engineering alternatives, and schedule impacts during client reviews and negotiations.

● Maintain estimating databases and pricing tools, ensuring labor crews, activities, and cost codes remain current and accurate.

● Support project handoff following award by transferring estimate data into project budgets, phase codes, and cost tracking systems.



Education Requirements

● Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering OR Construction Management


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

● 10+ years of experience in civil construction estimating, cost engineering, or preconstruction, with demonstrated ownership of complex bids.

● Strong working knowledge of heavy civil estimating methods, risk assessment, and competitive bid strategy.

● Proficiency with industry estimating and scheduling platforms including HeavyBid, CPM scheduling tools, Viewpoint, and Microsoft Office.
