About the Role
This role supports complex engineering design projects by developing detailed drawings, models, and documentation used to manufacture industrial equipment. The Designer III works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to ensure designs are accurate, efficient, and aligned with production requirements.
Job Responsibilities
- Convert project specifications, sales order information, and technical data into detailed drawings and design documentation
- Develop and maintain parts lists, requisitions, and ERP records required for manufacturing
- Review sales orders and customer specifications to ensure design accuracy and feasibility
- Evaluate technical requirements and recommend economical construction approaches
- Identify scope deviations, estimate design changes, and communicate updates to project stakeholders
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and collaborate with production and quality teams during builds
- Maintain design continuity throughout the entire project lifecycle
- Verify drawings, calculations, and technical data to ensure accuracy and quality compliance
- Maintain organized project files and communicate project status updates
- Lead design meetings and contribute to engineering discussions and technical problem solving
- Mentor and guide junior designers, providing feedback and technical direction
- Apply best practices in drafting, modeling, and design for manufacturing and assembly
- Stay current on CAD software tools and industry design standards
- Identify and implement improvements to design processes and documentation practices
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in drafting, design, or a related technical program required
- 5–7+ years of design experience in pressure vessels, fluid handling systems, or similar industrial equipment
- Strong experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor
- Working knowledge of ASME or similar engineering standards
- Understanding of fabrication methods, mechanical systems, and industrial materials
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced engineering environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across engineering and production teams
