Salary: $95K - $100K/year DOE

Shift: Full-Time

Location: Chesapeake, VA

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Service Manager to lead the efficient, profitable, and safe operation of the service department. This role is responsible for managing people, processes, and performance across shop and field service operations while ensuring high customer satisfaction, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage staffing levels to align with market demand and business needs
  • Evaluate service department performance against goals, budgets, customer feedback, and competitors
  • Ensure shop and field service work is completed efficiently and to customer satisfaction
  • Conduct periodic written performance evaluations for service technicians and staff
  • Ensure shop tools, equipment, and facilities are available and maintained in proper working order
  • Drive department growth, efficiency, profitability, and safety performance
  • Review compensation plans for service personnel and make recommendations as appropriate
  • Prepare call reports, estimates, budgets, and other required documentation
  • Review work-in-process for accuracy, quality, and efficiency
  • Audit compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to service operations
  • Schedule and participate in weekly customer visits with sales and customer-facing teams
  • Maintain strong working relationships with sales, parts, and other internal departments
  • Participate in ongoing professional development through training and factory programs
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management


Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of vocational or technical school education
  • Prior industry experience, preferably within a service department
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and team management skills
  • Proficient computer skills and comfort with service management systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • General knowledge of maintenance, repair operations, parts functions, sales processes, and customer needs


Physical & Work Environment

  • Office, shop, and field interaction environment
  • Ability to move through shop areas as needed to support technicians and operations
  • Occasional exposure to shop noise, equipment, and operational activity
