Small Press Setup Operator II

HiFyve is hiring a Small Press Setup Operator in the Manufacturing industry!

Salary: $28-36/hr

Shift: 1st Shift M-Th 6a-3p Fri 6a-noon

Location: St. Paul, MN

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret blueprints, job routings, and work instructions to ensure accurate production.

• Independently set up and operate small presses to achieve quality parts and maximize production efficiency.

• Set up basic tooling and prepare presses for production runs.

• Stage all required materials so production can begin without delay.

• Conduct precision measurements using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures to verify material specifications.

• Learn to perform root cause analysis on die or press issues and coordinate with toolroom and maintenance for repairs.

• Assist in identifying opportunities for process improvements that enhance quality and efficiency.

• Inspect materials and finished parts for defects and verify compliance with specifications.

• Identify and label materials accurately using tags or labels.

• Perform routine maintenance and maintain a clean, organized work area.

• Capture and document work instructions to ensure consistent setups and production runs.

• Accurately enter production and quality data into the company data collection system.

• Follow all established safety procedures and compliance guidelines.

• Work collaboratively with team members to meet production schedules and delivery deadlines.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Knowledge of punch press operation and die setting.

• Ability to read and interpret intermediate-level blueprints.

• Strong attention to detail with excellent inspection and quality control skills.

• Ability to troubleshoot production and equipment issues effectively.

• Effective time management skills to meet production deadlines.

• Clear verbal and written communication skills.

• Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.

• Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.

• 1+ year of experience in metal fabrication or related manufacturing work.

• Press operation experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to see and hear with vision including close, distance, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

• Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the shift.

• Frequent use of hands for handling materials, reaching, and operating equipment.

• Physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus during long shifts.

• Ability to regularly lift up to 25 lbs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
