Manufacturing company in Taylors, SC is looking for a mechanically inclined individual to join their team as a Grinder Operator. This is a first shift position, 7 am to 3:30 pm with an hourly wage of $18-$20/hr.


A spring grinding job involves operating machines to shape the end coils of springs to meet customer requirements. The responsibilities of a spring grinding job include: 

 

  • Setting up and operating machines: Set up and operate spring grinders and presses to convert coiled springs into finished products. 


  • Quality assurance: Monitor and improve the quality of parts produced.

 

  • Problem-solving: Use logical thinking and attention to detail to solve problems.

 

  • Reading blueprints: Study blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications.

 

  • Measuring: Use measuring instruments, such as gauges or micrometers, to inspect or measure finished workpieces.

 

  • Adjusting machines: Adjust machine controls to index workpieces, and to adjust machines for pre-selected operational settings.

 

  • Observing machines: Observe machine operations to detect any problems, making necessary adjustments to correct problems.

 

 

Spring grinding is a common industrial process that's usually performed on compression springs. The main purposes of spring end face grinding are to improve perpendicularity, reduce contact dimension, and prevent damage to mating parts.
