Job Summary:

Join a highly respected precision manufacturer specializing in large-scale welded, machined, and custom-engineered assemblies supporting the marine, defense, and industrial sectors. This role is ideal for a hands-on Quality Manager or a senior-level Quality Engineer ready to step into leadership and elevate a growing ISO 9001 environment.

You will oversee a small but capable team, partner heavily with engineering and production, and drive the quality discipline required for tight-tolerance, high-mix/low-volume manufacturing..

Key Responsibilities:


  • Lead and strengthen the ISO 9001 Quality Management System, including procedures, document control, audits, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee incoming, in-process, and final inspection activities, ensuring compliance with prints, tolerances, weld specs, and customer requirements.
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions using 8D, DMAIC, and structured problem-solving tools.
  • Manage PPAP, APQP, control plans, and first article processes for machined and welded components.
  • Collaborate with engineering on print reviews, GD&T interpretation, nonconformances, and disposition.
  • Serve as the quality liaison for customer audits, technical reviews, and contract requirements (marine/defense).
  • Develop quality metrics, reports, and data-driven improvements for scrap, rework, and process capability.
  • Coach, mentor, and elevate quality inspectors and technicians in daily floor support.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline (preferred).
  • 3–7+ years in Quality Engineering or Quality Management within heavy manufacturing, machining, fabrication, or precision assemblies.
  • Strong working knowledge of GD&T, print interpretation, metrology tools, and tight-tolerance machining.
  • Hands-on experience with welded assemblies, fabrication processes, and mechanical inspection.
  • Proven ability to lead corrective actions, drive quality culture, and communicate across production, engineering, and customer teams.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, PPAP, APQP, internal/external audits, and supplier quality processes.
