About the Role

The Senior Staff Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for process and structural engineering analysis, calculations, and design of complex, Engineered-to-Order (ETO) products. This role provides technical leadership across high-impact projects, supervises and develops engineering staff, and serves as a subject matter expert supporting engineering, sales, and manufacturing teams.


Job Responsibilities

  • Lead process and structural engineering design for complex and ETO projects
  • Provide direct leadership, coaching, and development for assigned engineers and technical staff
  • Manage performance, training, and day-to-day supervision of direct reports in collaboration with HR
  • Serve as engineering lead on projects, ensuring scope, milestones, and technical requirements are met
  • Generate, review, and distribute engineering calculations, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Review sales orders, specifications, and estimates to ensure technical accuracy and alignment
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, estimating, purchasing, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers
  • Support and troubleshoot manufacturing, assembly, and testing issues related to design and functionality
  • Act as a subject matter expert, guiding teams through complex technical challenges
  • Support quoting efforts by evaluating customer requirements and developing technical solutions
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, manufacturability, and reduce rework
  • Establish and maintain engineering tools, processes, standards, and document control procedures
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured and applied to future projects
  • Travel up to 15%, including international travel, as required

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license required or ability to obtain within one year
  • 7+ years of experience in process and/or structural engineering
  • Proven experience leading and developing engineers or technical teams
  • Strong knowledge of process systems, structural analysis, and applicable industry standards
  • Experience with FEA, AutoCAD, Inventor, and engineering analysis tools
  • Strong communication, organization, and project leadership skills
