PLM/Windchill Solution Architect

Role Summary
Seeking a PLM Solution Architect to design, deploy, and support high-quality implementations of the PTC Windchill suite. This role focuses on translating complex customer requirements into scalable PLM solutions that improve business processes, enable collaboration, and integrate with ERP/MRP systems.
The PLM Solution Architect plays a critical role across pre-sales and delivery, partnering with sales, project management, and services to ensure solutions are technically sound, well-scoped, and successfully adopted by customers.
Key Responsibilities
Solution Design & Delivery
- Design and implement PDM, PLM, Change Management, and data migration solutions using PTC Windchill
- Analyze customer requirements and translate them into functional and technical solution designs
- Produce technical specifications for configurations, customizations, and integrations
- Execute installations, upgrades, and enterprise implementations
- Support advanced troubleshooting and complex technical challenges
Customer Engagement & Process Consulting
- Lead blueprinting and process-mapping workshops for PLM, Change Management, and migrations
- Develop user stories, functional requirements, and technical requirements
- Provide best-practice guidance for training, UAT, documentation, and deployment
- Lead and facilitate user training and user acceptance testing
Pre-Sales & Business Development Support
- Participate in pre-sales activities including demos, solution walkthroughs, and technical discussions
- Contribute to statements of work (SOWs), scope definition, assumptions, and risk identification
- Identify expansion opportunities within existing customer accounts during service delivery
Project & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with project managers to ensure scope alignment and change control
- Monitor task progress, identify risks, and propose mitigation strategies
- Mentor and collaborate with services team members on solution design and delivery
- Document and escalate project issues as needed
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related technical field (preferred)
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a PLM consultant
- 3–5 years of hands-on PTC Windchill implementation experience
- Proven experience architecting PLM and Change Management solutions
- Experience with CAD PDM and PLM platforms
- Strong Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-project environment
- Strong communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Professional demeanor with customer-facing experience
- Willingness to travel up to 50% overnight
- U.S. Citizenship (required to support ITAR customers)
- Valid passport and ability to travel within the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
