Maintenance Mechanic (Pump Repair & Welding Focus)

Job Summary

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining industrial pumps, mechanical systems, and related equipment. This role requires strong hands-on experience in pump repair, mechanical troubleshooting, and welding, along with a high level of commitment to safety, reliability, and teamwork in a production environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial pumps, mechanical equipment, and supporting systems.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, pneumatic, and some hydraulic systems.
• Cut, weld, and fabricate metal components to repair pumps, piping, and equipment (including sanitary welding where required).
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble pumps and machinery to restore proper operation.
• Analyze equipment failures using test results, gauges, error messages, and operator input.
• Test and verify equipment performance following repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and maintenance activities.
• Follow all safety, PPE, and sanitation (HAACP) requirements at all times.
• Communicate effectively with operations and maintenance team members.
• Demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and flexibility to support production needs.

Required Skills & Knowledge

• Strong mechanical troubleshooting and pump repair experience.
• Welding and metal fabrication skills (pipe, fittings, and equipment repair).
• Knowledge of mechanical systems, tools, and maintenance best practices.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams.
• Basic electrical troubleshooting skills preferred.
• Ability to work safely in a loud, industrial environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; technical or associate degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 year of industrial maintenance experience (pump repair strongly preferred).
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain.
• Proven commitment to safety, teamwork, and dependable attendance.
