Materials Supervisor
We are seeking a Materials Supervisor to lead receiving, warehouse, inventory, and material movement operations within a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for ensuring raw materials, packaging, supplies, and finished goods are accurately received, stored, and shipped while supporting safe, efficient plant operations and production schedules.
The Materials Supervisor will lead warehouse and receiving teams, maintain inventory accuracy, and drive continuous improvement in material flow, storage, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership
- Supervise and support warehouse, receiving, forklift, and yard personnel.
- Schedule labor, manage staffing levels, and provide coaching, training, and performance feedback.
- Foster accountability, safety, and operational discipline within the team.
Receiving & Raw Material Oversight
- Oversee receiving, inspection, and documentation of incoming materials and supplies.
- Ensure materials are properly measured, graded, recorded, and stored according to company and quality standards.
- Maintain compliance with food safety and HACCP requirements.
Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Coordinate storage and movement of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
- Maintain organized and efficient warehouse, cooler, freezer, and yard operations.
- Lead inventory counts, reconciliations, and investigations of discrepancies.
Shipping & Distribution
- Coordinate outbound shipments to customers and external warehouses.
- Schedule inbound and outbound deliveries and work with carriers and logistics partners to ensure on-time shipments.
Systems & Documentation
- Ensure accurate completion of inventory transactions, receiving records, shipping documents, and Bills of Lading within ERP systems.
- Maintain proper documentation for inventory, shipments, and compliance records.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain compliance with food safety standards, GMPs, HACCP, and workplace safety procedures.
- Ensure proper housekeeping, PPE use, and safe material handling practices.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve material flow, inventory accuracy, and warehouse efficiency.
- Support Lean initiatives including standard work, waste reduction, and process improvement projects.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse, receiving, inventory control, or manufacturing operations.
- Prior supervisory or team leadership experience preferred.
- Knowledge of inventory systems, warehouse operations, and material handling equipment.
- Familiarity with food safety, GMP, or HACCP standards is a plus.
- Forklift experience required; forklift trainer certification preferred.
Work Environment
This role operates in a warehouse and manufacturing environment, including offices, yards, coolers, and production areas. The position requires standing, walking, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in varying temperatures while supporting a fast-paced production operation.
