Construction Superintendent


Position Overview

Seeking superintendents OR onsite project managers! The Construction Superintendent oversees field operations on assigned projects, ensuring quality, safety, and timely completion. This role requires close coordination with project managers, trade partners, and clients to deliver successful outcomes from groundbreaking to turnover.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead on-site activities and maintain a visible presence throughout the project’s duration.
  • Enforce and monitor jobsite safety programs in compliance with OSHA and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate day-to-day work of subcontractors and vendors, ensuring proper sequencing and quality control.
  • Review daily progress reports, maintain field logs, and document site conditions.
  • Manage project scheduling in collaboration with the project manager; identify delays and implement recovery plans if needed.
  • Conduct and record weekly site coordination and subcontractor meetings.
  • Support project managers in administering contracts, reviewing drawings, and processing submittals.
  • Monitor site logistics including staging, deliveries, workforce allocation, and equipment usage.
  • Track labor reporting, certified payroll compliance, and field order changes.
  • Work with the project management team on cost reporting, invoicing, and change order documentation.
  • Provide input on scopes of work and assist with preconstruction planning.
  • Oversee closeout procedures including punch lists, final inspections, and turnover documentation.


Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership with the ability to direct crews and foster teamwork.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, building systems, and sequencing.
  • Proficiency in scheduling software and common digital tools (Microsoft Office, construction management platforms such as Procore).
  • Ability to recognize and resolve field conflicts quickly and effectively.
  • Familiarity with safety standards, labor rules, and contract compliance.
  • Healthcare/medical/hospital construction management experience.


Qualifications

  • Education: Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred; equivalent experience accepted.
  • Experience: At least 5 years of supervisory experience in commercial construction.
  • Certification: OSHA 30 required.


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on active construction sites.
  • Must occasionally climb, stoop, or kneel, and lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Visual capacity sufficient for reading drawings, monitoring work, and ensuring site safety.
