Horticulture Technician (Office Plant Maintenance)

San Francisco, CA 94111 (Local candidates only – onsite)

$30/hr (Weekly pay + Medical Benefits)

Part-time: 24 hours/week (8-hour days: M/T/Th or T/W/Th)

6–12 month contract (strong potential for extension or permanent)


About the Role


We are seeking a hands-on Horticulture Technician to support plant maintenance across several commercial properties in San Francisco. These locations are primarily within walking distance and include office spaces, lobbies, atriums, courtyards, rooftop gardens, and plazas. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys plant care, irrigation systems, and outdoor/indoor horticulture work in a professional, corporate environment. You’ll work with a wide variety of plants—from tropical specimens to pollinator and edible gardens—making this a unique and dynamic opportunity.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform general horticulture maintenance: watering, planting, weeding, pruning, fertilizing, mulching, pest management, and irrigation

• Maintain and support irrigation systems, including basic troubleshooting and repairs

• Apply knowledge of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and organic gardening practices

• Clean and maintain a small onsite nursery facility

• Assist with seasonal rotations, plant installations/replacements, holiday décor, and special projects

• Interact professionally with building staff, tenants, visitors, and vendors


Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with plant care (indoor and/or outdoor)

• Working knowledge of irrigation systems (installation, maintenance, or repair)

• Familiarity with organic gardening methods and IPM practices

• Basic knowledge of tropical and exterior plants, including watering, nutrition, and pest control needs

• Comfortable performing physical work: lifting up to 40 lbs, walking between sites, using stairs/ladders

• Strong reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently

• Proactive mindset—able to identify and take initiative on areas needing improvement

• Comfortable working in a corporate environment with professionalism


Bonus (Nice to Have)

• Formal education or coursework in Horticulture or related field

• Experience supporting plant installations or landscaping projects


Work Environment

• ~60% indoors / 40% outdoors

• Exposure to varying weather conditions

• Some schedule flexibility required; occasional weekend work may be needed with notice
