Our leading SaaS client is looking for a Trade Compliance-Cross Border worker to be responsible for the development of international content to support the company’s Trade Compliance tools which provide compliance requirements for assisting customers manage their import and export compliance requirements. This will encompass areas of trade to include eCommerce, business to business, and marketplace shipments. This role is accountable for driving and contributing to the development of content for the Trade Restrictions product for the company. As a Trade Compliance specialist, you will be instrumental in the growth and market leadership of the team’s mission of enabling international trade and compliance for top-tier global logistics, manufacturing & ecommerce companies. This role will work with content research team, product management, and partners to identify, contextualize, and provide guidelines for enabling international trade and for the introduction of products into international markets. As the Compliance specialist for Cross Border, you will own and drive our Trade Restrictions Controls content that positions the company as the leading Trade compliance partner for businesses selling and/or purchasing physical items across borders. You will work with a cross-functional and geographically dispersed team, document and track all content related requirements, drive efficiencies through automation, quantify and measure key product metrics, and ensure customer value is optimized.
Job Duties:
· Trade Restrictions Compliance Content and Rules Management:
· Drive organizations understanding of regulatory and license requirements enacted by governmental agencies to manage cross border shipment compliance with applicable statutes
· Conduct research on trade compliance regulations with focus on import and export controls, provide high quality analysis, research regulations and summarize/document compliance requirements
· Create expert level guidance for use in customers interpretation and adherence to hazmat, carrier and international trade regulations
· Evaluate and update guidance documents, export controls manuals, and other policy and/or process documents to ensure compliance with current rules and regulations
· Collaborate with internal stakeholders to stay abreast of trade regulatory changes and updates
· Serve as expert on Canadian, EU export regulations, experienced in product safety compliance laws, and import/customs regulations
· Trade Compliance Content Strategy • Lead the development of compliance content approach, design and execute on strategies to source and sustain the deployment of trade compliance content with Trade restrictions product, making trade-offs to balance business needs with technical constraints
· Prioritize content development roadmap, aligning vision with business & technical stakeholders
· Identify opportunities to increase bandwidth through automation and streamlining of business processes
· Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with multiple tech and product teams across various locations to ensure timely delivery of trade compliance content solutions
Requirements:
· Minimum of 4 to 5 years of experience working in trade controls, with an emphasis on export and import regulations in Canada and strong understanding of the APAC,US and EU regulations.
· Strong research and technical writing experience; BA/BS Degree in a relevant field (business, law, international studies, or logistics)
· Proven experience implementing and managing trade compliance programs and/ or combined experience in Logistics, Tax, and Trade Compliance.
· Extensive experience Canadian export controls systems and government tools, and export/import classification.
· Customs Broker license highly preferred
· May have specialist experience in one or more areas related to:
· Product Safety compliance, Product specifications / interpretations, Product testing / laboratory, Export license management, CE and UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) compliance, CITES)/ Cultural subject areas, Annual reports, documentation and record keeping in compliance with licenses and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR),- creating and managing export license and compliance documents
· Experience working with regulatory requirements for import/export
· Exceptional analytical skills with respect to data manipulation, and the ability to create actionable information from data, along with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word experience
· Pragmatic thinker with ability to understand a desired future state yet be able to work in an iterative way to deliver partial value early and work into the desired end state through sequenced deliveries of incremental value
· Ability to communicate clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. Capable of creating written reports, proposals, processes, and project documentation
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver high quality results
· Ability to adapt to changing regulatory landscapes and drive compliance innovation
