** Please note: This role requires 2-10yrs Hands on Copy Editing experience; not copywriting, podcast, TV production, or marketing. Specific to copy editing as your job title**

Our client was launched in 2008, and they are a website, podcast network, and scripted and non-scripted video production house creating an innovative blend of sports, pop culture, politics, and tech content. The Podcast Network includes more than 30 popular podcasts, featuring chart-topping shows. They are seeking a Jr Sports Copy Editor. This position will be responsible for performing multiple deep copy edits on a daily basis, coordinating copy flow with editors and fact checkers, and helping to manage daily and next-day production of written pieces, social content, and multimedia text. The job will entail regular day and weekend work.

• 2-10 yrs hands on work experience as a Copy Editor for a daily publication
• Must have flexible schedule / comfortable with Freelance work. Able to work Sat 9am-1pm EST, 15hrs a week, depending on needs.
• Requires work experience with copy editing as your main job duty; which requires not just editing your own writing but working as a copywriter.
• Comfortable with vetting pop-culture copy
• Experience in digital media production
• Knowledge of Chicago and AP styles
• Bonus: Experience with sports copy editing
• Requires previous experience needing to meet daily copy edit deadlines
• Experience in digital media production and working knowledge of web-based production tools
• Demonstrated ability to edit for structure, taste, grammar, punctuation, and style under deadline pressure
• Proficiency working with multiple editors in a continuous deadline environment
• The ability to go beyond a surface level of editing, and experience vetting stories with an eye toward taste, legal issues, elegant sentence construction, and journalistic values
• The versatility to both quickly edit a news-oriented post and deeply edit a reported feature
• Experience in digital media production and working knowledge of web-based production tools
