Warehouse Materials Handler

Location: Broussard, LA 70518

Pay Rate: $22–$27/hr

Position Type: Contract – 6 Months (Potential to extend)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM


About the Role

We are looking for a reliable and hands-on Materials Handler to support warehouse and inventory operations in Broussard, Louisiana. This person will be responsible for receiving, unloading, moving, packaging, shipping, storing, and tracking materials in a busy warehouse environment.


The ideal candidate has previous warehouse, material handling, shipping/receiving, or inventory management experience and is comfortable working with physical materials. Forklift experience is preferred but not required. Candidates who are hired will receive the necessary forklift training and certification.


What You'll Do

  • Receive and unload incoming materials, including trucks and semi-trucks.
  • Move, stage, organize, and store materials throughout the warehouse.
  • Pick, prepare, package, and stage materials for shipping and customer orders.
  • Perform shipping and receiving activities accurately and efficiently.
  • Maintain organized warehouse inventory and ensure materials are stored properly.
  • Perform inventory counts and help identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Track materials as they are received, moved, stored, or shipped.
  • Prepare materials and orders for delivery or shipment.
  • Assist with loading and unloading trucks and other transportation vehicles.
  • Operate a forklift after completing required company training and certification.
  • Follow proper forklift and material-handling safety procedures.
  • Use basic computer systems to enter, update, and track inventory and material information.
  • Work with warehouse team members and supervisors to ensure materials are available when needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
  • Follow all company safety, security, warehouse, and material-handling procedures.
  • Assist with other warehouse and materials-related duties as needed.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1+yrs of warehouse, material handling, shipping/receiving and inventory
  • Experience with unloading trucks or semi-trucks.
  • Experience with shipping and receiving.
  • Experience with packaging, staging, moving, and storing materials.
  • Experience with warehouse inventory management or can be trained.
  • Ability to accurately track and organize materials and inventory.
  • Basic Microsoft/computer skills and can learn company inventory systems.
  • Ability to work safely in a warehouse environment and follow procedures.
  • Strong reliability, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Must be willing and able to complete forklift training and certification.


Bonus

  • Previous forklift experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience using SAP or another inventory/warehouse management system is a plus, but candidates can be trained.
  • Previous experience working in a high-volume warehouse or materials environment.



Physical & Other Requirements

  • Must be comfortable performing physical warehouse work throughout the workday.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, pull, bend, reach, stand, and walk.
  • Ability to safely handle and move warehouse materials.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the required employment physical.
  • Must be able to successfully complete the required drug screening.
  • Clean DMV record to use forklike
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

 

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is dependable, hardworking, hands-on, and willing to learn. The right person should have solid warehouse or material-handling experience, understand shipping, receiving, unloading, packaging, and inventory, and be comfortable working in a physical warehouse environment. Forklift experience is a plus, but it is NOT required — will provide forklift training and certification.
