Title: Area Sales Manager
Pay Rate: $115,000-$150,000 base salary, based on experience + up to 10% variable compensation + end-of-year holiday bonus

Location: Harrisburg, OR (Onsite preferred; remote North America considered for highly specialized industry experience)
Travel: Approximately 33%; occasional international travel

Summary
We are seeking an experienced Area Sales Manager to drive profitable growth and strengthen customer relationships across North and South America for a global manufacturer of specialized technical materials and engineered solutions.
In this role, you will own key customer relationships, develop new business and projects, manage opportunities from initial inquiry through quotation and contract completion, and serve as a critical link between customers and internal teams. The ideal candidate brings a strong technical sales background within aviation, aerospace, advanced materials, composites, engineered products, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
What You'll Do
• Manage, strengthen, and grow relationships with key customers throughout North and South America
• Identify and develop new customers, applications, and project opportunities to expand market presence and revenue
• Own the full sales cycle, including prospecting, technical discovery, quotation preparation, pricing, negotiation, and contract conclusion
• Serve as a central point of communication between customers and internal teams regarding projects, priorities, delivery timelines, and potential bottlenecks
• Coordinate customer-facing design and development projects in partnership with technical and operational teams
• Develop a strong understanding of the product portfolio and translate technical capabilities into practical customer solutions
• Prepare sales budgets, forecasts, pricing calculations, market analyses, and commercial recommendations
• Monitor market trends, customer requirements, and competitive activity to identify growth opportunities
• Partner closely with Sales Management, Customer Service, Quality, Logistics, Purchasing, Engineering, and other stakeholders
• Represent the organization during customer visits, industry meetings, and relevant events throughout the territory
• Travel approximately one-third of the time, primarily throughout North and South America, with occasional international travel as needed
What You Bring
• 3-5+ years of experience in technical sales, account management, business development, or a similar customer-facing commercial role
• Experience selling specialized, technical, engineered, or specification-driven products in a B2B environment
• Strong ability to develop new business while maintaining and expanding strategic customer relationships
• Experience managing complex sales opportunities from initial customer need through proposal, negotiation, and close
• Ability to understand technical products and communicate effectively with customer engineering, procurement, operations, and leadership teams
• Experience with sales forecasting, quotations, pricing, market analysis, and territory planning
• Strong customer orientation, negotiation skills, commercial judgment, and relationship-building ability
• Highly organized, self-directed, and comfortable managing multiple customers and projects simultaneously
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate across functions
• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 33% of the time
Bonus Points If You Have
• Experience in aviation, aerospace, aircraft interiors, transportation, composites, technical laminates, prepregs, polymers, advanced materials, or a closely related industry
• Experience selling to aerospace OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, engineering organizations, or other highly technical manufacturers
• Knowledge of composite materials, engineered materials, technical laminates, decorative films, or similar specialized products
• Experience managing customers or developing business across both North and South America
• Experience working in SAP or a similar ERP environment
• Ability to work onsite in Harrisburg, Oregon; highly specialized industry candidates elsewhere in North America may also be considered
